Supplementary Post - Facebook

Here’s an overview of Facebook for those who are interested. This is not part of the 23 Things, so feel free to ignore this.

Facebook is a social networking site. Here’s an on overview of social networking if you are unfamiliar with the term;



There are now about 350 million users of Facebook – that’s more than the population of the USA! People use it to tell “Friends” what they are up to, to keep up with their “Friends’” activities, to join groups of interest, to play games and to chat.

In some ways, Facebook encompasses many of the ideas we’ve looked at in 23 Things; blogging, pictures, videos, tagging and so on. Some people are suggesting that Facebook marks the end of blogging and sites like Flickr, perhaps even of personal email, because it puts many of those functions in a single place.

Currently, the liveliest debate around Facebook regards privacy. If you choose to open a Facebook account, select your privacy settings carefully. You can control who can see your personal details.
